John F. Talbot, son of James and Maria (House) Talbot, was born at Otterville, C. W., January 19, 1850. He came with his parents to Port Huron, Mich., in 1851. In the schools of this city he recieved his education, studying until 1869, when he enter the Commercial office, just then purchased from Col. John Atkinson by his father. Mr. Talbot has been closely connected with this journal from 1869 to the present, with, perhaps, the exception of one year, which he devoted to the editorship of the Detroit Daily Union.
